Boasting handy features like three temperature settings and a uniquely-designed chamber that reduces the possibility of combustion, Kandypens’ Donuts offers a smooth and aromatic draw that’s suitable for beginners as well as the well-versed. This oil and wax-only pen will bubble your wax rather than burn it (thanks to SloBurn technology) and comes with a sturdy carrying case, USB charger, and dab tool.
The Gravity is a well-crafted wax pen vaporizer sporting a sleek design and advanced quartz crystal and coilless ceramic atomizers. This model has a temp-controlled battery that comes with a lifetime warranty and is available in Sandblasted Black, Satin Rubber Black, or Glossy Black finish. The Gravity comes with a USB charger, alcohol cleaning wipes, travel case, and dab tool.
A noticeable upgrade from the first edition, the new Kiln RA Heating Attachment adds state-of-the-art rebuildable atomizers, making this new model user-friendly and easy to maintain. Its ceramic chamber is deeper and able to hold an impressive amount of product, which is a common request heard from vapers. The Kiln RA is versatile and comes with an advanced dual post system, which makes swapping out ceramic coils easier and faster. Designed to sit flush with all box mods and batteries, Atmos’ latest invention is one of the top-tier wax consistency attachments on the market.
If you’re not a fan of menthol, the Juno Tobacco Kit contains a different combination of e-liquid pods compared to the Juno Menthol Kit. As you might have guessed by the name, this kit swaps out the menthol flavor for the more traditional tobacco. Each pod contains 36mg/ml of nicotine and is accompanied by a 380maH battery, USB charger, and a user manual.
The Juno Menthol Kit comes with three disposable e-liquid pods in menthol, fruit, and dessert. These pods are filled with flavors from the Twelve Elements collection and contain 36mg/ml of nicotine. With a 380maH battery and USB cable for charging, The Juno Menthol vapor system draws just like an actual cigarette. This is a great product for first-time vapers.
The Greedy Sub OHM is compatible with most box mods and 510 batteries and comes with adjustable airflow and a special mouthpiece to prevent splash. This heavy-duty heating attachment is made of stainless steel and employs a stainless steel and quartz rod heating chamber. The Greedy can hold quite the amount of wax consistency products, producing one power-punch of a vapor and enjoyable flavor.
Cloud Pens was very popular in the wake of the wax pen explosion that has happened in the past few years. This unit takes the cake for anything the company has done yet. It’s remarkably larger than their older units, and for good reason. The Paragon’s best features are the built-in NoGoo silicone jar at the bottom of the unit and its integrated dab tool, which doubles as a coil carb cap.
Instead of lugging around a case with a dab tool and a container for wax or herb, it’s all connected! The Paragon comes with two quartz coil, and there is also an herbal attachment available if you want to swap out. It has plenty of airflow options, 3-heat settings, and charges through a micro USB port. If you’re a forgetful person or love all-in-one options, this will save you so much hassle!
KandyPens is a popular, high-quality brand responsible for units like the Galaxy, Gravity, Donuts, and Ice Cream Man, all of which come in a variety of colors and an array of coils. Their newest unit is the MiNi, a more compact unit that comes with multiple coils. The battery is a sub-ohm style and the top reminds us of the Atmos-branded Kiln. The MiNi has great airflow and the option of a double quartz coil or a “coil less†ceramic pad atomizer. It takes a micro USB charger and the battery has a lifetime warranty. This unit comes with a dabber tool and charging cable. We love it, and you will too, especially if you’re tired of tight airflow and slow-heating wax pens.
This is a battery specifically for pre-filled standard-sized cartridges. It’s a small 20-watt unit designed for discreet, easy use. A 510-threaded magnetic adapter screws on to the end of the tank, connecting it to the heating element at the bottom of the tank port. The design allows for easy to cartridge swapping or refilling.
We find that HoneyStick The BeeKeeper works much better than regular 510 batteries, or pull and draw pens. It comes with an empty cartridge, adapter, and micro USB charger. Those who use cartridges regularly would benefit from this unit.
Nicknamed the “5-second dabber,†APX by Pulsar packs a serious punch and resembles a baby RDA e-cig. The top piece is triple quartz coils wrapped in grade 2 titanium, put into a pure quartz chamber, which means it will heat quickly and evenly for a fantastic taste. The bottom is a basic tiny box battery with a single button and takes a micro USB charger. It runs on a 0.7 ohm atomizer (coils) and a lithium internal battery. Pulsar offers a one-year warranty along with a small wax container, charger, and steel dabber. If you’re looking for a wax pen that hits hard and wastes no time, we suggest the APX.
SMOK is a reputable high-end brand in the vaping world, and their Alien kit doesn’t disappoint. It comes with an Alien 220W dual-18650 Box Mod and their popular TFV8 Baby Beast, a sub-ohm tank that packs a serious punch. The Mod comes in a few different colors and has a large LED display on the front alongside two buttons (up & down).
Instead of a traditional firing button, this unit uses a firing bar which we find to be more comfortable. The LED display shows voltage, wattage, amps, ohms, and battery life. The unit also allows for adjusting what material your coil is made of. The tank holds 3mL of juice at a time and has a top-fill latch, allowing it to slide off but stay connected. The Baby Beast coils are larger than normal so it can generally take more wattage running (depending on the ohms, of course). The Alien kit is one of the best on the market right now for beginners, those wishing to upgrade, or even the advanced vaper.
The MY. VON ERL. is an e-cigarette, comparable to the JUUL. Measuring four inches in length, it is made of high-quality aluminum and contains a draw-activated mechanism, meaning there is no button to press. It is slightly larger than the JUULÂ but is sleeker and more rounded. The larger size of the MY. VON ERL. provides a major advantage: larger pods.
Each Liquidpod contains 1.6 mL of liquid — which is a 50/50 PG/VG blend — and 18 MG of nicotine. It’s portable, easy to use, and cost-effective! MY. VON ERL. uses push-fit technology and its Liquidpods come in a variety of flavors ranging from tobacco-like to fruity and creamy.
It is charged through a micro USB port located on the bottom of the stick. We find that the MY. VON ERL. works very well, and is a great alternative if you’re in a bind trying to find JUUL pods or if you need a smaller unit. We also recommend this unit to first-time e-cig users because of how easy they are!
The R Series Vape Pen is This Thing Rips! (formerly SToK) first try at concentrate pens, and they did an excellent job. It’s a slime green and black basic pen set up, except the top chamber is polycarbonate. We enjoyed being able to see how much smoke we were getting (those vape pens can surprise you!), though it might not be for the discreet user. The coil (atomizer) is a single ceramic rod with a ceramic dish underneath. The inside of the atomizer is actually ceramic, allowing you to pack it pretty full and still get an even heat. The R Series Vape Pen comes with a tool, silicone jar, cleaning wipes, and an extra coil.
The first PuffCo won many awards upon its release in 2015, and the company does not disappoint with their latest edition. The star of the show in the PuffCo Plus is the coil, a ceramic “cup†atomizer with extra airflow. It’s a larger chamber, allowing for more concentrate, and heats evenly so the taste is incredible. It comes with a charger and extra atomizer.
The threading on the PuffCo Plus is pretty neat. Instead of a full thread, it has a quarter-turn release, eliminating endless unscrewing, similar to how Cali Crusher grinders are set up. While PuffCo’s new unit works really well, we wish it came with more bells and whistles, but this is a company known to put more energy behind the quality of materials used rather than lagniappe features.
Dr. Dabber is a fantastic company known for its innovative designs. Aurora is the perfect example, as one of the best new concentrate (wax) pens to come to the market. A notable difference in this pen is the thread-less magnetic connections, so you no longer have to screw on the coil, the mouthpiece, etc. Unlike the similarly-structured Source Orb 4, the Aurora won’t come apart in your pocket, as it takes a good bit of pressure to loosen the pieces.
The Aurora comes with 3 different coils: double quartz, double ceramic, and ceramic pad (coil-less). Each coil is wrapped in Titanium Grade 2, and each chamber is lined with titanium and quartz for maximum heat. This model has large chambers compared to most vape pens, similar to KandyPens, and produces maximum flavor. It has three heat settings (click the button three times to change) and we find that each “coil†needs a different heat setting, which is expected. Comes with a basic charger and small slick.
The iCare Mini is one of our favorite vapes, nearly convincing us to ditch our RX 200 with a Herakles tank. Crazy right? Let us explain. The iCare Mini comes in five colors: gold & white, matte black, white, turquoise & white, and maroon & white. With a portable magnetic charger as well as a standard USB charging port, this is a vape for someone on the go.
The unit is smaller than any of our other box units and fits nicely in your hand. At around three inches tall and less than half an inch wide, it holds a little over 1ml of liquid and maxes out at 15 watts. Like the JUUL, the iCare Mini has no button and is pull-and-draw. And it doesn’t have pre-filled cartridges like the JUUL, which we prefer.
To fill, pop off the lid and unscrew the metal piece inside. It pulls out so you can attach your small coil to the bottom. Turning the unit to the side, you’ll see glass with a white line. Fill your liquid only up to that max line, as the stick connected to the coil pushes the liquid down and overfilling will cause leakage.
The iCare Mini provides a pleasant hit and can produce a good bit of vapor for only 15 watts. We highly recommend it to any vapor user, whether you are just starting out and want an easy-to-use compact unit, or are just tired of carrying around the larger variety. With all the e-juice you will be saving by using a low-wattage unit, the iCare Mini is a really affordable starter kit.
The JUUL is a portable nicotine vaporizer, and with its ease of use, is perfect for beginners. The starter set comes with a compact battery unit, charger, and four flavored pods: Mint (menthol), Fruut (peaches, grapes, and berries), Bruule (vanilla cake and crème brulee) and Tabaac (Virginia tobacco). The JUUL comes with a magnetic charger and houses a considerable battery for its size, which the pre-filled cartridges attach to easily.
This is a pull-and-draw model that can sense when you are taking a drag, so there is no button as found on other units. We found the flavors to be a little lackluster but packing a punch with nicotine. Nicotine levels are 5% or 50 mg/ml, which sounds like a lot, but broken down equates to only 0.7 ml in each pod. It’s a very cigarette-like vape with harsh hits and minimal vapor.
Overall, the JUUL is a good product for someone who is new to vaping or doesn’t want to deal with the hassle and mess of regular e-cigs. If you want something similar but with a higher-quality e-juice, we suggest another starter kit, the iCare Mini by Eleaf.
This is the first Pax model capable of being a dual-use vaporizer, which means it accepts both herbals and concentrates. Pax 3 looks and feels much smaller and sleeker than the Pax 2 and comes in four colors: silver, gun metal black, gold, and rose gold. This unit doesn’t simply look nicer, it houses many new features compared to the previous model.
Inside the box is a card that urges you to download the app on your smartphone and register your device for a 10-year warranty. This is our personal favorite feature, aside from the concentrate chamber. It is capable of working on smart watches, making it easy to change your temperature and set it up on the go. The oven lids and mouthpieces have also been upgraded, as it now comes with two mouthpieces (large and small), 2 dry herb lids (one full pack, one half pack), and a concentrate lid.
Pax 3 has also bumped up the battery, meaning it heats up quickly (10-15 seconds) and outlasts its predecessor. It uses lip-sensing technology and an internal accelerometer, so it will be idle if left on while not being used, a convenient feature for those looking to conserve their materials.
The Cruiser is the original Crosley record player, playing 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM records through built-in speakers. This lightweight yet durable turntable is housed in a fashionable suitcase of leatherette material, and could very well replace your beloved ipod as your go-to music-sharing medium. Get a piece of beautifully-crafted mobility for yourself.
The Keepsake is also housed in the 1950’s-inspired portable case, making it easy to take your tunes with you wherever you wind up. This model houses dynamic, full-range speakers and the ability to play vinyl, cassettes, CDs and AM/FM radio. Not convinced? The Keepsake also comes with ripping capabilities, allowing you to connect your computer to the unit and preserve your old recordings.
This 3-speed model attracts minimalists and tech-lovers alike. Including analog radio and the ability to plug in a portable music player, the Player’s retro design keeps things simple without placing limits on your listening pleasure. It has a fully automatic return tone arm, built-in speakers and diamond stylus needle. Simple, sweet and highly recommended.
With an uncanny resemblance to your dad’s classic turntable, the C100 plays at both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM. You’ll need to supply your own speaker system with this unit, but the S-shaped tone arm with adjustable counterweight won’t disappoint. This analog’s classic metallic design and transparent lid are befitting of a unit boasting adjustable pitch control for those fussy records in your collection.
Let the music follow you wherever you go with the Traveler, featuring Crosley’s durable diamond stylus needle perfect for those on the go. Housed in a 1950’s-inspired portable case, this record player gives you independence AND quality sound. The full-range built-in speakers aim to please even the most geographically fickle, whether it’s 7â€, 10†or 12†records you’re spinning.
Targeting your inner director, this Crosley record player provides you with all the options you crave to be the boss of your living room entertainment hub. Forget about simply hearing vinyl, this modern unit supports old and new. Play music from your favorite cassettes, switch over to WTUL on the AM/FM radio, or plug in your own device via USB. The best part? Preserve all your oldies by recording them onto CDs. With a design that will bring you back to the good ol’ days, the Director aims to please the nostalgic music lover.
Comparable to the Diamond Grind, Space Case has a basic grinder setup and is made in the USA. It’s crafted from heavier and more- durable materials, yet has basic grinder blades and is very small for the price it is worth. Running anywhere from $60-79.99 for a small 4-piece, it features a very strong magnet for the top section and all of the pieces screw on and off very easily.
Our staff can vouch for this superb grinder. With a 4-piece setup, amazing quality and durable materials, the grind is flawless. The Santa Cruz Shredder comes in many colors, regular or matte. It has quad side blades, which make it super easy to grind. We find that you can pack your materials all the way to the brim and it is still completely ground in 3-4 twists. The inside is coated with a non-stick lining, which will eventually wear down (ours started after 8 months of usage). The dish the herbals fall through varies in size of course, but proves sufficient. The holes in the screen are a bit too large for some folks but lets you collect an ample amount of pollen easily. There is even a secret slit between the screen and metal casing of the grinder that allows any pollen that is stuck in those corners to fall through to the bottom dish. Retails for $79.99 for a medium-sized one, and worth every last penny.
Very similar to the Santa Cruz Shredder, the Cosmic Case is made with heavy materials and boasts a sleek design. It comes in tons of colors, but the most popular are rasta and silver. Like the Santa Cruz, the Cosmic has quad side blades, a non-stick coating on the inside, and the top part of the grinder has a strong magnet in case it gets knocked around a bit. The Cosmic possesses a finer screen; however, and you can still pack this thing to the brim and grind it easily. It retails slightly cheaper than the Santa Cruz at $89.99 for a large.
The Cali Crusher is a very different kind of grinder. Made from the highest-quality aluminum out there, the inside is also coated with a non-stick layer. Recognized by the signature Grizzly Bear on its front, it’s available in loads of colors, regular or matte. Using a “quarter-turn locking mechanism†rather than the basic screw on/screw off seen in other grinders, its blades are as equally unique. They don’t have quad side blades, nor standard grinder blades, but are set in the shape of an X and are parallel all the way down. They range from .25 – 1.5 inches in length and are pretty sharp. The bottom half has standard grinder holes and 4-6 more oddly-curved blades. The screen has a screw right in the middle of it which is handy for always keeping your grinder nice and clean, and also getting every last bit of pollen. The curved pollen dish is massive, perfect for scooping out of. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different and unique that still showcases craftsmanship.
The Aluminum D-NAIL 1.3 digital vaporizer is one of the nicer electronic nails on the market. The casing of the unit is durable and can take a beating. The digital display allows you to heat the electronic nail to specific temperatures and can be programmed for preset temperatures. The Aluminum D-NAIL 1.3 Kit comes with one coil heater (Kanthal nichrome and kevlar sheath) and one high-grade American-made titanium nail. One new feature is the 110-120V outlet built into the back of the unit which can be used with other electronic accessories. Comes with a 2-year warranty. Available in painted aluminum enclosure. Retails at $549.99.
Retailing at $249.99, the D-NAIL Version 2 is the most budget- and user-friendly of the D-NAIL electronic nail line. The D-NAIL Version 2’s analog controller features a sleek design and dial temperature control. While the analog controller does not possess as high a degree of precision as featured in their digital units, the controller has been calibrated and labeled, allowing you to dial into a range that works best for your nail and essential oil. The D-NAIL unit is assembled in New York and all parts are manufactured in America, Canada, or Europe. This is not a cheap Chinese-made electronic nail. It performs well and holds up to wear and tear. I highly recommend this unit for anyone on a budget looking for a quality electronic nail. The D-NAIL version 2 uses the same XLR heaters as their digital units, so compatibility is never an issue if you later decide to purchase a higher-tier model. The Analog Controller is covered by a 1-year warranty.
Sheldon Black began designing smokeware in Los Angeles in 1988 and is still considered one of the best in the glass industry. Made out of Schott German Borosilicate, you can feel the difference just by holding it. All Sheldon Blacks are handblown in the United States and showcase extremely clean ground joints and curves. Each piece displays a unique artistic design on its chamber amid its signature cursive logo. Sheldon has set high standards in the commercialized glass industry with its sleek look, fair price, and incredible glass quality. They even have little top hat bowls! Whether it’s a straight tube or beaker, a beautifully made bubbler with a tree perc, or a top hat-style recycler, we guarantee you’ll find the perfect Sheldon Black that suits you.
Based out of California, and with a remarkable selection of pipes and vaporizers, Medicali uses strictly Schott German Borosilicate glass. They blow everything by hand rather than mass produce and take pride in creating well-crafted pieces for new and experienced smokers. The brand makes it all, from basic beakers (and a new upside down beaker) and oil rigs to accessories like the revolving bowl and vaporizers (for both herbal and wax). Each piece comes in a different color scheme, with a different version of the logo on the front and down stem (where applicable). This company really is one of our favorites.
Famous for their geyser perc down stem and screened bowl, HiSi is purely scientific glass and does not use any color. Their pipes are tested and re-tested, ensuring top-grade water filtration. With a limited but designer-level selection, the clean look and periodic table logo are recognizable signatures of the brand that takes smoking seriously.
The Wismec Reuleaux RX200 is a great quality unit with a unique design. It tops out at 200 watts and fits great in your hand. Not exactly pocket-friendly, it’s a perfect at-home vape, and is available in black, white and mint, as well as red and black matte. The unit is shaped almost hexagon-like and runs on a triple set of 18650 batteries. It has vents on the bottom to prevent overheating the batteries, and usually lasts around 48-72 hours, depending on usage. If you don’t mind the size, we highly recommend this unit for the cloud blowers.
Super cool box mod that features a touch screen rather than a basic LED, and tops out at 150 watts. The Sigelei T150 operates on dual 18650 batteries and needs an external battery charger. The touchscreen works nicely, and takes up the entire side of the vape, allowing you to easily change the wattage, voltage, settings and temperature control. It has a lock feature once you’re satisfied with your settings, which makes this a pocket or purse-friendly unit. The battery door to get to the dual 18650s is magnetic yet still easy to get off. The 510 connection for tanks has innovative airflow channels, making this a quality unit with stellar design. The Sigelei T150 is more advanced so we recommend becoming more experienced before graduating to this unit.
A relatively large box unit, the Sigelei Fuchai tops out at 200 watts. It has temperature control and runs on two 18650 batteries. The shape is a literal box, and it comes in a few select colors. One great feature is the ability to switch from nickel to titanium coils, through temperature control. You need an external battery charger for this unit, so we recommend buying a few extras for emergencies. A well-made product for the serious vaper who wants large clouds.
This is the strongest IPV mod to date, topping out at 200 watts. The IPV D5 has temperature control and is slightly bigger than the IPV D4. This unit has FOUR settings for different coils including Ni200 nickel, titanium, stainless steel 304, and SX pure heating elements. The IPV D5 also uses a standard micro USB charger and has dual 18650 internal batteries.
Much larger than both the D2 and D3, the IPV D4 is a 100-watt unit that runs on two 18650 batteries. That means double the battery life and 25% more wattage. It has a nice grip on the sides and still fits in your hand comfortably. An external 18650 charging port is needed, as it doesn’t have a standard battery. It would be wise to grab some extra batteries for on the go as well. To replace the batteries, you have to actually remove the “grip†area on the vape which is a bit difficult. It still has temperature control, which has been a new hit in the vape world. The LED display is super sleek and has a mirrored finish. Finally, the IPV D4 has vent holes on the bottom, which helps keep your batteries cool with heavy usage.
The IPV D3 is great for any type of vaper. It’s a small, portable, 75-watt unit available in a variety of colors. It has a magnetic battery door cover for its external 18650 battery, as well as a standard charging port at the bottom of the unit. It is a tad heavier than the D2 but still fits comfortably in your pocket. Featuring scratch-resistant paint, this unit has a clean and user-friendly LED screen and comes with temperature control. You can also select if you’re using nickel or titanium coils, which is a huge plus for the avid vaper.
The KangerTech TOPBOX is a well-made e-cig perfect for beginners. It comes as a set (a box battery and a tank to hold the juice) and is available in a slew of colors. The unique feature about the TOPBOX is that it loads from the top rather than the bottom. This is a lot easier, especially for someone new, because you don’t have to flip the vape upside down to fill it. It’s a smaller unit and comes with an external 18650 battery that is easily replaceable and charges standardly with a basic micro USB charger. The only difference between the TOPBOX regular and TOPBOX Nano is strictly size. The Nano has a smaller milliliter tank, so it holds less juice. It also has a smaller box battery the tank sits on, which makes it a bit more portable. Both of these units go up to 50 watts, and both come with an extra coil or two. A dock (cotton and wires) is also included if you are interested in building your own RDAs. They retail from $79.99-$89.99.
The Sense Herakles V2 has all of the features we love in the original but with a sleek, compact design, and can be filled from the top. No leaks with this model. The top simply twists off, making for easy refills. It’s an efficient tank with a Tri Parallel Coil, allowing for high-powered vaping for expanded flavor yield. Constructed of stainless steel, the condensed chimney allows for rapid clouds, creating a wonderfully-enhanced flavor profile. This unit is user-friendly, and combined with its ideal size and superior performance, is the perfect mid-grade tank.
The Nautilus X is a solid tank designed by Aspire. It uses U-Tech coil technology, has a top fill and 2 ML tank capacity, and uses 304 stainless steel. It has dual adjustable airflow slots and comes in three different finishes: black, silver, and gold. It’s a short, fat tank and uses 1.5 and .3 ohm coils. This unit is perfect for not blowing huge massive clouds but still feeling full-lung hits. The tank brings out the flavor profile and does well under 50 watts.
A sleek sub-ohm tank with a wide range of power (15-150 watts depending on the coil you use). It is a top-loading tank with a triple ring air intake design. The drip tip is removable and they also have specific coils. The crown 2 is not compatible with crown 1 coils. The key reasons this tank is superior to others are the lightweight yet durable materials it’s made of and the top loading feature.
Extreme Q by Arizer One of our staffers first purchased this herbal vaporizer in 2009. It’s still one of his favorites and works as well as the day he bought it. At only $199.99, it’s stylistically comparable to the Volcano Digital Vaporizer, though it doesn’t quite match the Volcano’s craftsmanship.
The Extreme Q comes with a whip and bag (balloon) filled with sweet vapor. The temperature range is 122 F to 500 F, though we prefer and suggest anywhere from 380-430 F, depending on how fresh or how packed your material is. The power button and digital display are very clean and easy to use.
Directions: Loosely pack the bowl with finely ground herbals. Once powered on, it will take about 2-3 minutes to thoroughly heat up, and the same amount of time to fill up the balloon. The whip or bag fits right on top of the bowl. It comes with a stir tool, and we recommend you stir herbals every 10-15 minutes during use.
The Launch Box by Magic Flight is a perennial standby in the herbal vaporizer community. The Launch Box is one of the original portable herbal vaporizers and remains one of the only herbal vaporizers fully produced in the United States. Magic Flight manufactures all Launch Box parts by hand. The body of the original-style unit is hand-carved out of maple wood, with a product code engraved on the bottom to track manufacturing dates and authenticity.
Pax 2 by Pax The Pax 2 is a super sleek and portable herbal vaporizer. Some differences between the Pax 2 and the original Pax are seen in its smaller design, deeper oven, and magnetic charging port. Additionally, the newer model boasts 30% longer battery time and 4x longer lifespan.
Retailing at $279.99, the Pax 2 comes with two silicone mouthpieces, one flat and one basic. Drawing slow is a major key to using this model, as the air flow is subpar to some other portable vapes. If you rip it, you may have to breathe long to get results with this vape. The cool part about the Pax 2 is its lip-sensing technology, as it turns the heat down if your lips leave the mouthpiece for more than 20 seconds. This helps you avoid roasting your herbals.
Directions: To turn on the unit, you click the top of either mouthpiece. The Pax logo will light up and signify that it is heating up and then remain a solid green when it is ready. A blinking red light indicates the unit needs to charge. The bottom magnetic lid to the oven pops right off. Pack it loosely with finely ground herbals and stir every few uses. The battery life on the Pax 2 lasts 2-3 hours.
This box has all you will need to vaporize concentrates and herbals, and it only requires a small amount to have an enjoyable experience. With the same technology as the original but with a replaceable, diminished screen size, this box kit makes it easy to vape to your heart’s content.
The life of the battery is noticeably better with the smaller model, and cleaning is much easier with the brass bowl insert. It produces a great amount of heat, so they included a 1.5-foot silicone draw whip with brass ends rather than your standard draw stem. Pick this one up in either noir or walnut.
Don’t forget the clip-on laser to throw light on your vapor! This light show won’t suck up battery life and also acts as a power-on indicator. If you’re a fan of the lava lamp and attaining the ideal draw rate, this add-on has serious appeal.
Flosstradamus Source orb XL The Source orb Flosstradamus edition comes with not double, but TRIPLE quartz coils. Wrapped in grade 1 titanium and sitting on a titanium dish, this unit is no joke. It produces a lot more vapor and comes with a dual coil as well, in case it gets to be too much! The matte black top is screwed onto a small box battery with an LED display. This allows you to control the actual voltage you are vaporizing your materials at.
Directions: To turn the unit on, click the small square silver button on the front 5 times. To control your wattage/voltage use the triangle buttons on the bottom of the LED screen. Our staff finds this to be one of the strongest dab pens out there.
Galaxy by Kandy Pens The Galaxy Kandy Pen comes in a square, hard case– perfect for your pocket or purse. This model comes in a rainbow of colors, from rose gold to matte black, and you can even select a glitter detail if that’s your style. The Galaxy comes with a basic charger and small titanium dabber and has a decent battery life to boot.
The best part? Not only does it have Dual quartz coils wrapped in grade 1 titanium, but also a quartz “drip†dish! Quartz coils not only bring out the flavor of concentrates better, but they also last a lot longer and hit more smoothly. Even with its high capacity, be careful how much concentrate you pack in, as with any pen.
Directions: Pushing the K button on the front of the unit 5 times turns it on and off. Clicking it 3 times changes the temperature which is super useful depending on the consistency of the materials you’re vaporizing. Low, medium and high settings are indicated by red, green and blue, respectively.
Cloud Pen 3.0 by Cloud The Cloud Pen 3.0 is primarily a concentrate vape that comes with an atomizer for herbals as well. It has a sleek, pocket-sized design and comes in a plethora of different colors. To use the product, simply click the button five times and it is turned on. The charging hole is at the bottom of the unit and takes around one hour to fully charge. It comes with a nice semi-hard case, dual ceramic-rod coils (one regular, one with a glass dome attachment) and an herbal coil. The Cloud Pen 3.0 also includes a small oil silicone slick, dabber, and soft plastic mouth pieces in case you want to share! Retails at just $99.99 and is perfect for the beginner dabber.
Source orb 4 Source orb has once again changed the game with its new “coil-less†atomizers. Made from 303 stainless steel and durable materials, this is an amazing shot at using a titanium nail through a pen. Source orb 4 has also upgraded the airflow nozzle to be much easier to use and has a magnet lock lid instead of the screw off. It comes with a little lagniappe, as do many Source orb products.
For only $99.99 retail, you get: a variable voltage pen, magnetic lock metal dome piece, charger, oil slick, dabber, two double quartz coils, two double ceramic coils, one ceramic pad coil, and their brand new titanium coil-less pad. Out of all of their coils, this one is by far our favorite. It’s essentially a portable e-nail at the click of a button. 100% worth the buy!
The Volcano line of vaporizers has stood the test of time; we know people who are still using theirs after 10 years. Both the classic and digital Volcano styles are standouts for quality materials and reliable operation. The classic style has analog temperature control, and the digital style has a LED screen allowing precise temperature selection. Consumers can also choose between two styles of valves and bags. The easy valve set includes a plastic mouthpiece and premade bags. The valve in the solid valve set is made of sturdier materials, and consumers tie the bags off at the desired size. Both sets come with a plastic grinder, the same magnetic bowl piece and screen, a concentrate “pad,” and extra bags. The magnetic bowl attaches to the top on both, and users grind herbals and fill the chamber loosely as with any other vaporizer. The wheel-like screen goes on top and that is where the bag and mouthpiece click into place. Each bag should last months at a time, and cleaning the unit is very easy. Both units deliver unreal flavor, and we’ve never heard of anyone having any serious issues.

The Mighty is a big brother to the Crafty in the Storz & Bickel family of vaporizers, with nearly double the battery life and more precise temperature controls. It is also larger, with a maximum dimension of 5.5 inches, and heavier, at 8 ounces. The Mighty has an LED screen for controlling the temperature and checking battery life. If the batteries are not charged, it can be used plugged-in. We also appreciated the Mighty’s larger oven for herbals. We recommend the Mighty for those who do not require a pocket-sized vaporizer.
The Crafty handheld vaporizer is very portable, with no dimension greater than 4.3 inches. Despite its quality construction, it is lightweight, only 4.8 ounces. This specific vaporizer is used for herbal substances. The lithium-ion battery takes about two hours to charge fully, using a micro USB charger, and supplies power for about an hour with normal off-and-on usage. The power button is a soft, round orange button on the bottom of the unit. Click it once and it turns on and instantly starts to heat up, displaying a blue light. A green light will blink when it is ready to go. Unscrewing the top piece of the unit provides access to the oven, or chamber, which holds about 0.3 gram of herbal substances. We recommend grinding the herbs as much as possible for even vaporization. Loosely pack the chamber and slide the top back into place. The Crafty vaporizer has two temperature settings, normal and high. We prefer the normal setting, 356 degrees Fahrenheit, which is achieved with one click of the power button. The high setting of 383 degrees is achieved with two clicks. This vape is one of the best portable ones around.
Firefly was a great unit, but this one is even better. With its sleek design, portability and large chamber, it is one of the best vapes on the market. A magnet holds the glass-and-metal top plate on the chamber. Pack the herbals loosely, turn it on and wham! Yes, it’s that easy. It vaporizes super-evenly, and every pull tastes fresh. It is a convection vape, while means that it produces instant heat only through inhaling. It heats up to around 390 degrees, which is a sweet spot for certain herbals. The battery lasts a couple of hours (turning it on and off). It comes with a charger, an extra battery, and accessories. This super-easy unit is a great value, especially for the beginners in the vape world.
The Gpen Elite is the top of the line among Grenco herbal vaporizers. The unit is super-portable and sleek, and comes in a matte black color. With five clicks of the power button on the front, a green light indicates that the unit is fully charged. At the same time, a small LED screen lights up; the two buttons beside the screen allow setting the temperature between 200 and 428 degrees Fahrenheit. After the temperature is set, holding the power button for three seconds begins the heating process, which is tracked on the LED screen. The top mouthpiece snaps off to reveal a clean ceramic oven/chamber. It takes less than 45 seconds to heat up all the way to 350 degrees and vaporizes herbals evenly. The Gpen Elite comes with a little grinder card, a tool to stir herbals up in the chamber, and a charger. It is one of the best in its price range.
The Dr. Dabber Boost is a portable nail with a glass water attachment, adding the benefits of filtration to the convenience of a pen. Its magnetic dabber/carb cap makes it easy to gather your materials and carb cap it quickly.
The large black-and-blue base pen is very heavy-duty, with a sleek design and a single button. Pressing the button three times will bring it to the ideal temperature for its titanium nail, and pressing the button five times will bring it to a higher temperature for its ceramic nail. The ceramic setting can also be used for the titanium nail, for those who prefer ingesting concentrates at higher temperatures.
The Dr. Dabber Boost comes in a sleek hard case lined with egg-crate-style foam. Besides the base pen, titanium and ceramic nails and glass water attachment, it comes with two tiny baby blue slicks, a charger and alcohol wipes for cleaning.
The carb cap is attached to a dabber that comes off magnetically, then connects over the actual opening for the nail by magnets as well. It is also made out of very heavy, high-grade metal.
The nails themselves are about an inch in diameter, limiting the amount of concentrate that can be used at once. For the amount of concentrate we use, however, there was no runoff and vaporization was fast. The carb cap slides on smoothly.
The water attachment is easy to attach and remove. And you don’t have to fiddle around with a torch! Just a couple clicks and you’re ready to dab out.
The Ghost by Dr. Dabber comes with a matte black pen, a dabber, a charger, a silicone storage ball, a square plastic mouthpiece, and two tanks/coils. The Ghost coil is a single silica wick wrapped with high-grade titanium. We recommend using a nonstick, no-goo dabber with this unit to avoid damage to the silica wick.
Fans of the durable Dr. Dabber Ghost who are looking for something smaller and more portable should consider the Dr. Dabber Light, a more compact unit.
The sleek Puffco Pro vaporizer pen is made without glue, delivering significantly better flavor. It comes in a pocketsize metal case with one coil/tank and a charger.
The pen has three heat settings, with color indicators of green for low, blue for medium and red for high. Temperature adjustments are accomplished with four clicks of the button, compared with five clicks to turn the pen on and off.
The Puffco Pro has a thick ceramic rod made with high-grade titanium with a very deep dish, so using a small amount of concentrate would be difficult. We loaded the unit with .2-.3, which allowed quite a few hits. We were working with sappy materials, so the ceramic dish was nice to have for the runoff from the coil. The medium temperature setting delivered incredible flavor that will make it hard to go back to coils made with glue.
This SOURCE orb 3 vaporizer pen kit encourages individuality, including eight varied coils for both dry herbs and concentrates. These coils make the kit a great value, worth nearly the total cost of the kit on their own. The set comes in a solid case with a variable-voltage pen, a dabber, a silicone stick and two “dome” atomizer attachments. We have enjoyed using quartz nails, and were enthusiastic about trying out quartz coils as an alternative to ceramic and silica wick coils.
Setting up the SOURCE orb is simple. The pen turns on and off with five clicks of the button on the front. A twist on the bottom of the pen allows you to change the voltage/wattage (aka temperature) on the unit as well, so each material can vaporize at its ideal temperature. The atomizers attach to the base of a matching metal “dome” with holes for airflow.
The double-sided dabber has a sharp side for more shatter-like concentrates and a scoop side that is ideal for wiping oilier substances onto the coil easily.
All of these coils are made with Grade 2 titanium and minimal glues. We tried the fast-heating double-coil first. We prefer low-temping concentrates, and kept the voltage at 4.0. The unit can go up to 4.8 volts if you prefer your temperature to be higher, and down to 3.2 if you prefer it to be even lower. Shatter-like material provides better flavor at lower temperatures. We like to put in enough for one or two solid drags at a time and wait three or four seconds to start hitting the unit after firing it. The quartz coils heated evenly and quickly, and delivered the best flavor we’ve experienced from a pen.
For best results with the dry herb attachments, grind your materials beforehand and pack the attachment loosely so the herbs will vaporize evenly. The circular coil dry herb attachment is well-suited for crumble-like material.
All in all, the SOURCE orb is a great buy. The coils alone retail for $7-$11 so buying this unit is like buying eight coils, and getting a nice pen set-up and accessories for free. The quartz coils alone are enough reason to pick up this SOURCE orb 3 premium kit.
